Parish Council Vacancies

Two casual vacancies have occurred. The first is due to the resignation of Cllr Matthew Reeves-Hairs, and the second is due to the sad death of Cllr Marty Kilby.  The Parish Council will seek to fill the vacancies by co-option as soon as is practicable and upon written applications by eligible candidates being received by the Clerk (clerk.hormeadpc@gmail.com).
Please note that East Herts did not receive an election request as a result of these vacancies occurring.

ANNUAL AUDIT OF PARISH COUNCIL ACCOUNTS
for year ending 31 March 2018

The Parish Council's Annual Audit for 2017/18 was approved and signed off by the Internal Auditor in April and approved by the Parish Council in May.  Under new legislation, the Parish Council has opted to be excempt from a limited assurance review (ie, external audit) for the year, having met the criteria of the gross turnover being less that £25,000.  However, the same stringent financial regulations have been applied and the period for the Excercise of Public Rights to view the Accounts runs 18th June to 27th July.  Please apply to the Clerk for information.

Great Hormead Conservation Area Appraisal
Public Meeting, Thursday 8th March

The appraisal public meeting was held on 8th March 2018 in the Meads Pavilion and there was an excellent turnout.  John Bosworth, an East Herts Conservation Officer, gave a comprehensive presentation and fielded a number of very good questions.  Consequently, the Parish Council included within its comments a request that parts of Hare Street and Little Hormead be granted Conservation status, and that some areas that are being targetted for removal from the present CA be reinstated.
The CA consultation period ran until 19th April.
The Parish Council has also applied for the allotments to be granted the status of an Asset of Community Value (ACV).

Highways matters
The Parish Council is presently pursuing a number of highways and traffic matters with East Herts, with County, and with the police.   We are presently endeavoring to organise a DriveSafe scheme for Hare Street village but we need of volunteers.  Please contact the Clerk to see how you can be involved to help create a safer and more pleasant environment for the whole community, and certainly for those who live on, and regularly use, the B1368 through the village.

We are also considering buying some Speed Aware wheelie bin stickers. See examples HERE and HERE.  If you are interested, contact the Clerk at clerk.hormeadpc@gmail.com

If you have any queries about highway maintenance works or temporary road closures, please contact  Hertfordshire Highways on 0300 123 4047.

Should you wish to report a highways fault, report online at www.hertsdirect.org/highwayfaults.
